The first baumkuchen is required in order to get the "moving to the island" event. Once you've cleared the first sprite, a number of people (Kotomi, Roomi, Selaf, Calvin, Chihaya, Pat, Juli, Taimu, Gray, Berin, Pao) will come to the island. Kotomi, Roomi, and Selaf arrive at the same time, but the others come one at a time, one each on the 1st and 15th of each season.
The Quilt
Before you can start collecting baumkuchens, you must first solve the mystery of the quilt. A mysterious quilt has been handed down through the generations of Herbal's family, but... half of it has gone missing! The quilt explains the legend of the Goddess and the Sprites and what to do should the tree be in trouble. Unfortunately, with half the quilt missing, it's impossible to tell exactly what to do...
- Step One: Herbal's visit. One day, shortly after you start the game, Herbal will come to your house to tell you about the quilt. You can't do anything about it just yet.
- Step Two: The left half of the quilt. A few days later, Herbal will stop by again and give you the left half of the quilt. The right half, however, is missing. Herbal says that Gil claimed that the Harvest Sprites took it and hid it, but Gil probably just lost it...
- Step Three: The right half of the quilt. Stubborn Gil does know something about the other half of the quilt, but he won't tell you anything until you've upgraded your house to level two (which requires 3000G, 16 pieces of stone lumber, and 18 pieces of wood lumber, and a visit to the carpentry!). Once you've upgraded your house, talk to Gil again. He'll tell you that he was indeed able to see the Harvest Sprites when he was a child, but somehow lost that ability as he got older. The Sprites took the right half of the quilt from him and hid it.
The quilt is hidden in the clock in the Waffle Town Square, but first you need the key to open it up. Talk to Herbal while he's inside his house to get the key. Use it on the clock, and you'll be able to find the other half of the quilt.
Now you can go about collecting baumkuchens!
The Green Sprite: Dana
Required to get the "People Moving In" and "Windmill Revival" events.
Location: Waffle Town Square area.
This is the first one you can clear. Once you clear this baumkuchen, people will begin moving to the island, and you can go to the two southern islands: Kotori and Ohtori. The earliest day you can clear this sprite is Spring 22 (the day of the flea market), which means that the tailoring shop will come in on the 1st of Summer, and other people will begin to move in after that.
| Item | How to Get It |
|---|---|
| Baked Yam (やきいも) | Grow sweet potatoes in the fall and use the match set to bake one in one of the fire pits on the beach. -OR- Buy one from Mai during the spring or summer flea market. |
| Carp | Fish it from the river. It's a pretty common fish. |
| Wonderful Spice Bake (すてきな香草焼き) | This is the most difficult item. You need an oven (which you can buy from the supermarket for 2550G). Put a fish and an herb (any colour) into the oven to make the dish. However, the fish must be a relatively rare one in order to achieve the "wonderful" (suteki) rank or above. The normal rank (sorenari) won't cut it. A fish such as an itou, maguro (tuna) or unagi (eel) always provide a good rank. Using 4 Iwanas and 1 green herb is also confirmed to provide a "wonderful" rank dish. |
| Common Shell (よくあるカイガラ) | You can find one of these on the beach. |
| Apple (リンゴ) | You can plant an apple tree yourself, but why wait for it to grow? -OR- Buy an apple from the Souffle farm during the fall. -OR- Buy an apple from Simon during the spring or summer flea market. |
Have all 5 items in your rucksack and then water the flower by Dana's tree to get the baumkuchen. Dana's rainbow leads to Kotori Island.
The Blue Sprite: Ben
Location: Maple Lake.
Ben is the second sprite you can clear...sort of. Ben has lost his badge, meaning that you can't climb the rainbow to Gelato Mountain until you find it for him! You can't get the badge until after you clear the third sprite, Koron.
| Item | How to Get It |
|---|---|
| Plain Omelette (プレーンオムレツ) | Buy it from Simon at the spring or summer flea market. -OR- Make it yourself with an egg, butter, and the frying pan. |
| Green Herb (グリーンハーブ) | You can get this from foraging. |
| Wonderful (Suteki) Tomato (すてきなトマト) | Grow it yourself during the summer. -OR- You can buy one at the fall Harvest Festival. |
| Baked Eggplant (やきナス) | Take an eggplant and start a fire in one of the fire pits on the beach. Put the eggplant in the fire. |
| Iwana (イワナ) | This fish can be caught in the Caramel Waterfall area. |
After you give Ben all the ingredients, the rainbow will appear, but you can't climb it just yet! You need to clear the next sprite, Koron, and then go back and talk to Ben. Ben will suddenly remember that he lost his badge while he was playing near the river. He fell in and the patch washed away. Go to Kotori Island, and up the rainbow that Koron made for you, in order to get to the eastern island. You'll find the badge there. Return to Ben one last time, and you'll finally be able to go to Gelato Mountain.
The Yellow Sprite: Koron
Location: Kotori Island
Kotori Island is the island to which Dana's rainbow leads. You must clear Koron in order to get Ben's badge, since his badge washed up on the eastern island shore.
| Item | How to Get It |
|---|---|
| San'ma (サンマ) | San'ma is "pike" in English. This fish can be caught in the ocean, but only during fall and winter. |
| Blue Ball (あおいろ玉) | Can be found in the Ganache Mine. All gems or glass balls are coloured balls until Miori inspects them. |
| Masterpiece Spinach (けっさくほうれん草) | You can buy one from the Souffle Farm in the fall. -OR- Grow one yourself during the fall. A "Masterpiece" item is one that sparkles but doesn't have the white halo around it. |
| Deep Red Yarn (まっかな毛糸) | Take a ball of yarn (any quality) and put it in the dye pot with a red herb or flower. The dye pot comes automatically when you buy the yarn maker and can be found in your barn. |
| Banana (バナナ) | Buy one from Samson at inn on the southern island (Ohtori Island). |
Koron's rainbow leads to the eastern island, which is where Ben's badge washed up after he lost it in the river.
The Sprite Leader: Aran
Location: Brownie Ranch
Aran is the leader of the Sprites. Unfortunately, he is also one of the hardest to get. His rainbow leads to the summit of Gelato Mountain.
| Item | How to Get It |
|---|---|
| Green-reen Grass (グリンリン草) | They grow in winter. You can buy the seeds from Samson at Ohtori Island at any time. -OR- You can buy them from Cresson during the fall produce festival. |
| Strange Mushroom (あやしいきのこ) | These are very common in the mines. They're the spotted mushrooms. |
| Carrot Cake (ニンジンケーキ) | Buy it from Elli at the fall or winter flea market. -OR- Make it yourself with an egg, breadfruit, milk, butter, and a carrot. |
| Dachonnaise (ダチョネーズ) | You can buy this from Mai during the spring and summer flea markets. -OR- You can make it yourself by putting an ostrich egg into the mayonnaise maker. |
| Mokugyo (モクーギョ) | This fish is as hard to catch as its name is to pronounce! It can be caught at the Goddess Pond (top of Gelato Mountain) at night. Getting to the pond is a bit of a chore: you have to bring gifts (such as fish) to the mama bear each day until she'll finally let you pass. Once you're there, this fish is hard to catch. I can't give much advice other than that a golden fishing rod and being to at least level 3 or 4 in your fishing ability is a good idea. |
The Purple Sprite: Edge
Location: Gelato Mountain Summit
His rainbow leads to the top of the goddess's tree. ...Or it would, if the tree were still there.
| Item | How to Get It |
|---|---|
| Maguro (マグロ) | Maguro is "tuna" in English. This is a relatively rare fish that can be found in the ocean during the fall, winter, and spring. A good fishing rod (silver or gold) and high fishing level can help you to catch one. |
| Snowdrop Flower (スノードロップ草) | Buy one from Kotomi during the spring or summer flea market. -OR- Buy the seeds at the Souffle Farm and grow them. They're a winter flower. |
| Masterpiece Melon (けっさくメロン) | Buy it from the Souffle Farm during the summer. -OR- Grow it yourself in summer. A "Masterpiece" item is one that sparkles but doesn't have the white halo around it. |
| Lapis Lazuli (ラピスラズリ) | Get a blue ball in the mine and have Miori inspect it to see if it's a lapis lazuli. -OR- At the start of the game, you can find a lapis lazuli in a box at the beach behind Yuba and Herbal's houses. |
| Deep Red Honey (まっかなハチミツ) | Grow red flowers. If you see a bee buzzing around a flower, there's a chance it could have produced red honey. Pick the flower to see. |
The Goddess Tree
Once you've gotten all the baumkuchens, you can revive the Goddess Tree.
